Ty Katsarelis is a guitarist and composer based in Houston, TX. He has played guitar in many ensembles and has arranged works by Stravinsky, Ives, Chopin, and Philip Glass for solo guitar, guitar duo, and jazz ensembles.

His chamber opera, "worry", was recently commissioned by Due Donne Productions and is set to premiere in Boston in June 2020. He has also recently composed music for the Lone Star Contemporary Music Festival, Yannis Petridis & Alexandra Christomidou, and the UL Chamber Singers.

Also active in the field of music theory his theoretical interests include form proportions, statistical analysis, and contour theory.

Ty earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Louisiana Lafayette in Music Theory and Composition. He then earned his Master's Degree in Music Theory from the New England Conservatory of Music, while also studying composition with Stratis Minakakis.

Ty is currently music faculty at Lone Star College in Houston, Texas.
