Born in Chalkida, Greece, Dimitris Makris began his studies in classical guitar with Michael Nothdourft and received his Diploma with Panagiotis Deligiannis. In addition he studied Music theory (Harmony, Counterpoint and Fugue) with Meletis Carcaloucos, violin with Giorgos Stalimeros and Alexandra Fotou and composition with Yiannis Anastassopoulos and Alexandros Kalogeras. He has attended a masterclass with Oscar Ghiglia, percussion seminars with Alexandros Christidis, courses in Jazz Harmony and Orchestration with Giorgos Pavlakos.

He has been teaching guitar and theory since 1993; as a soloist he has performed in Greece and abroad, while he has composed music for theater, cinema, chamber music and solo works. Ηe collaborated with Melos Brass as an orchestrator, and he served as the Production Director and arranger for the album of Anna Daskalopoulou Indeed my love.

He is the founder of “Lyrical Conservatory” in Amarynthos (2002), he was the artistic director of the “Marsyas Conservatory” in Chalkida (2012-2018), and since 2013 he has been the artistic director of the “Dimitris Konstantopoulos” music school in Thessaloniki.
